Chaos Ludik Part 1

Oh yes, it's that time again!  Not hammertime, you 'tards, time where I attend a tournament and spill my plans like a typical- and incredibly good looking - Bond vilain.  The event is only in 2 weeks, but since I knocked out a big comission that I'll cram in a single post, I need to write something to fill my daily blogging thing ( Monday to thursday for 3 weeks and going strong! )  Alright alright alright, back to the main thing...

CHAOS LUDIK

Chaos Ludik is a 2 day event held in Montreal ( 2.5 hour drive from here ) that is run in part by the same guys that make the ND Open happen.  the 40K part is a double's tournament on Saturday and a single on Sunday.  Because of logistics ( freakin' logistics, man ) I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend the single, but I've reunited with my pal Mr Light/Arnaud to form the greatest team ever:

Team Big Softies
(  Team Grosses Douceurs, for y'all frenchies out there )

Knowing your softies segment:  A couple years back, the Hellfire crew went to a team tournament held in Sherbrooke.  I ( naively ) let our friends be Team Hellfire, so we had to come up with another name.  The composition rule for the armies were pretty loose and enabled a lot of power combos, so we were running 8  Monsters, ranging from the Blood Thirster to Hive Tyrants to Daemon Princes and Tervigons.  The fact that we average 6'3" and have a total team weight of roughly 500lbs has nothing to do with that name, I swear.  The Big Softies were born, and we promptly destroyed the tournament, winning every single category - Overall, Generalship, Sportsmanship and Painting.

The softies are back segment:  So we are back, an edition later, and intend to crush all who stands before us at this event that neither of us attended in the past ( mostly due to the fact that I believe it's the first year they have a 40K tournament )

Sportsmanship wise, I expect to have a great time, as these team events are always fun, and since Arnaud is the designated tactical player,  I'll be the designated drinker.

Painting wise, I think top 3 is in reach.  I like the overall scheme of the army, and we have a unified painting, as both armies match and have the same bases, which is always a nice touch.

Generalship/Overall:  I think 3-0 and 2-1 is well within reach, as the list is quite good with very few bad matchups ( I don't think it's possible to field Knights  in this format )

This is the tournament primer for Chaos Ludik, I hope I see you there and we share a brewski or two, avid reader.  If you are part of a 40K team at that event, surrender now. We're big; we're soft; we will destroy you, your army, and everything you hold dearest.

In the immortal words of Daft Punk: SOFTERSTRONGERBIGGERBETTER.

To Do List of the week!

I'm working more hours at the store these last 2 weeks, which means that I'm not painting as much as I'd like.   However, the beastmode is still strong, and I will try to finish a bunch of stuff this week to show off.  Here's what's on the table ( not a metaphor ) in no particular order:

JSP
Chaos Lord on Manticore
Warshrine of Nurgle

Boily
Raven Guard Terminators and bunch of bases
Baal Pred

David
Nagash, Neferata, Custom Vampire Lord

Tournament stuff, there's 3 events in the foreseeable future that I need models for:
Chaos Stuff for the DA Boyz Single and Other Chaos Stuff for Chaos Ludik's team tournament
Stuff for Da Boyz double, that my buddy Eric has finished converting.

I will knock the Chaos Warrior for sure this week, and try to finish the Chaos Ludik army, as the event is in 2 weeks.  As usual, I am scattered all over the place, if you see your project is missing from my list, drop me a message.

Until next time!

Yarrick

I heard only good things about Yarrick in this edition, so I figured I'd get mine painted.  I've had this model in various shades of unpainted since the Finecast was released.   As you can see, the base is not done and the boots are sloppy.  This is because I tore it from the base it was standing in order to find him a pimpier one and one that matches the rest of the Imperial Guard I have lying around that will one day be a painted army.

Silver Helms

Here's the last part of High Elves that I'll work on in a while, because the to-do list if not getting any smaller as weeks go by, and I need to get a move on the Super Secret Da Boyz Project at some point.  So BOOYA, silver helms.  Also this Lothern Sea Guard Banner that was in a display cabinet since the last batch.

This Week's TO DO List

Alright, so on the table this week is a bunch of Chaos Warriors and nothing else.

I still have a bunch of other stuff to do, but here's a breakdown of the units I want to get through this week:

Throg, pimpest of the trolls
Nurgle Daemon Prince
Chaos Lord on Manticore
4 Chariots
Warshrine

This is all the Warriors of Chaos stuff left from the 4000+ point army I had to do, so I'm going all out this week to get it done.

BIG NUG

After borrowing this sexy beast for Daemonic Possession purposes at Nova, there were a few touch ups to do on him ( because I'm a clumsy player and my minis really do go to war when I handle them )

Dwarves!

Some leftovers from the last dwarf batch,  bunch of shields and that 1 dwarf that lost it's arm at some point in the moving models around.  Leave no stuntie behind!

And as additional proof that I'm not messing around when it comes to overpowered units, I did start on the Chaos Knights.

Commander Farsight

A project I had for quite some time.  There's  gonna be a whole article on painting your Farsight Enclave on Spikey Bitz soon, so here's just a teaser of my completed Farsight.

Showcase: Mortarion

I did this pimp a while back and never got around to posting it.  Rotty McRotface joins the collection of Primarchs of my good friend Eric.

This guy was painted in a scheme that fit both the rest of the primarch ( you can find them easily by scrolling through the blog ) and a Death Guard army I painted for Eric a while back.  Pretty hapy about how he turned out.

Typhus

Sometimes there's no way to enjoy 40K without 100+ Zombies and a rotten-grim-scythe-wielding-sorceror-chaos-lord.

This Week's To-Do List

This list of ongoing projects is becoming a weekly thing to keep me on track.  GET BACK TO WORK YOU SPACE MONKEY!

Alright, so I'll post updates this week on what I've been working on, so clever readers might track last week's list and compare to see what I've done.  Or you know, just wait for it, you stalker.

Boily
- Baal Predator, to magnetize and paint in a pimpin' fashion,
- Bunch of Raven Guard
- Awesomize a power sword

Joel
- 10 Silver Helms ( That I had to dig deep to find through the various projects shelf. )  Already primed them, because I'm a beast and I want to get them done this week for sure.

JSP
Still more cheese and spam from the Nurgle Warriors of Chaos.

Side projects that might just take off:
- The super-secret Da Boyz team army project.
- Converted Shadowsun that I airbrushed and want to paint ever since.

Also, should I find something magical to fit in my Daemons to make them playable in the Da Boyz heavy comp restricted event, I might go berzerks and paint that to get it over with.  Instead of my usual shindigs of picking a list, building it and painting it 2 weeks before the event. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you know, having free time is nice once in a while.  Who am I trying to fool, I have no clue what free time is.

This Weeks's To-Do List

A trend I've seen on many other blogs that I'm now picking up:  Sharing with you the stuff I'll do in the next few weeks.  As such, you can expect some updates of call me a lazy bum when you don't see any.  If you happen to have models sitting at my house waiting for stuff to be done on them and don't see them in the list, please message me.  I swear I know which end is up.

Here we go...

The NOVA Open, Part 4

Here we are.  I was placed in the 3rd Bracket which is the second bracket of players with a 3-1 record.  This bracket was quite fine with me, as the 2nd bracket, for players with the same record but a higher number of battle points had something like 6 out of 16 armies with Knight Titans.  My bracket, however had players like Andrew Gonyo (His army was my worst matchup I think ), Marc Parker and Jesse Newton

The NOVA Open, Part 3

Unto the battle report section of this series!  I write these reports as a quick summary that’s easy to read and focuses on the high points of the game rather than a turn by turn long and uninteresting read.

The Road to Nova, some sort of preface.
