A review of 2014

What a year!

After seeing everyone’s year in review – and I don’t mean those facebook your year in review, I figured I’d give it a shot too, see what 2014 was about.

Before I get into this whole recollection, I remember a few of the resolutions I’d taken, and I want to go over what I did and did not do, at least hobby wise (  Come on, eat healthy, find true love, sleep more than 3 hours each night…  who am I kidding here… ).

1-  Launch my own website ( beside this blog – I love y’all ).
Better late than never, but on December 6th I  bought the domain theonehourarmy.com and started to work on it right away.  A very promising start.

2- Complete all the random models that are lying around.
Nope.  But work has been done in that regard, and the heaps and piles of boxes, models and whatnot has definitely improved ( improved as in there’s less of it, you hoarding bastard! )  And I will keep working on that this year!

3- Reach 1000 youtube followers.
Yeah, no.  But I somewhat gave up on that early, as I changed my setup and was busy with other projects, making videos was put aside for the time being.

Now, what did I do this year.

BOOM.  Looking back at these, I am quite impressed with the minis I turned out this year.  And the mashup is not everything.  There 4000pts of Adepticon, 2 Dwarf armies, a High Elf Army, and a Blood Angel army my commissar bust..  the list goes on.

I set up this blog.  Basically everything on here was done this year.  The “hobby ressouce tab “ has 18 articles/videos.

I maybe didn’t get my 1000 youtube followers, but my articles and minis have been posted on spikeybits, torrent of fire and Frontline gaming, and I’m quite proud of that.

Made a shitton of amazing friends.  I can’t name them all, and won’t because obviously I’ll forget some folks and feel bad about it ( Canada, eh ) but know that if we shared a drink  around, next to or under a gaming table, you made this French Canadian’s tournament experience amazing.

Pimps of the End Time

These guys were a lot of fun to paint.  Nagash, a Vampire Lord on flying steed and the Conclave of Death.  The 3rd one is magnetized to get all 3 variant of heads, riders and barding.  Hit the jump for more pictures !

New Projects Ahead!

I am back!

I have been busy the last weeks working on a new project that does not involve this blog, hence my lack of updates.

But fear not, I have not been slacking, and tomorrow I will have shiny undead pimps to shwcase for you all.

As my other project takes shape, I will be updating this blog less frequently, but I still have a lot of nice commissions to paint, so more nice showcases on the way.

No rest for slackers!

I am still alive and well despite the lack of updates.

My non blogging has a purpose I swear, I just can't show it off yet ( that's what she said )

Spawn-ernaughts

This is a small update to the Khorne force I posted last week ( Click here, you lazy bum! ).

These sexy poneys I got in a trade a while back and planned to used them as spawns in Blood Lord James McBadass' force.  The red on them I did as a test, playing around with colors and trying out stuff I've read about online ( not that stuff, you perv ) and thought they looked weird.

Despite the weirdness, I'm not really looking to break some kind of awesome looking record with these models, I just want to painted so I can push them around on the battlefield, so I left the red as is, weird and all.  The weirdness dissapeared once the trims were basecoated ( left ).

There are some mistakes and still a lot more to learn before I master this technique, but yay me, my khorne  ponies don't suck.

I paint these guys when I'm ealry at the shop, or after my shift if I have to wait for someone/the bus, so no progress planned with the rest of the force, but still, now that I don,t find them weird, motivation to paint them rises!

The Annual Christmassacre!

The Christmassacre: get in the spirit of christmas by delivering beatings in the 41st millenium.

As I've mentionned elsewhere, when I'm not painting miniature or drinking furiously in foreign lands, I work at a game store.  I usually leave the tournament and event management to my co-workers who are much more involved, but every once in a while, I step in.

The Christmassacre would be one of those time.

For the past few years, we gather at the game store on December 24th and play Apocalypse from 9 AM to 4PM ish.

Who is we?  Guys their wife want out of the house for various reasons.  Guys back in town for the holiday.  Those that planned ahead and don't have shoping to do. Denis, who would never miss Apocalypse.

So I share this here, hoping that this year or next year, some other store or club will run it's own christmassacre.

That's the Christmassacre.  That and Irish coffee with the staff, because traditions.  Yes, Christmas Irish Coffee is a tradition as old as the Christmassacre.

The Undead Pimps WiP

The Vampire Lord is nearly complete.  Nagash went through the airbrush.  I wanted to get David's approval before going further with the project, models this size I don't want to do over, or have an unsatisfied custommer.  Hit the Jump for MOAR pictures!

This week's to do list

It's december, snowing outside, I can feel the beastmode creeping back on me.  Also, I just set up my christmas tree and setup a christmas movie advent.  Also, growing up is overrated.  Staying on subject too.  Haterz.

The FTGT Budget Hobby Challenge is starting and so are the FTGT Hobby Tuesday, where I hopefully have some progress every week on my challenge.

David's undead pimps are taking shape, I should have a WiP up on wednesday, and will propably finish them by the end of the week.  Or only have a few touch ups to do.

I have laid basecoat to Boily's Ravenguard jump infantry.  No plan to blitz them yet, I do them between projects, or if it's too early to airbrush and I want to paint.

Eric's Vulkan is assembled.  That model is a pimp, I can't wait to start it.  If I succeed my Ld check, it will be next week once the Undead are done, but who knows.

On another note, I found/bought/traded/received all but 2 models for my ND Open army.  Although small, it is mighty.  And if not mighty, it will be pretty.  If not pretty, I have failed you all.

Until next time, keep painting!
