<br />
<br />
With the release of the Death Guard this past weekend, I got around to break apart my Dark Imperium boxes and build my 90 Poxwalkers. I did it in just under 2 hours; and here's how you can do it too!<br />
<br />
<i>This article also marks the first "original content" to <a href="http://hellfirepainting.com/">be uploaded on the new site. </a> It is far from complete or ready, and most articles I will transfer eventually, but yay! Anyhoozles...</i><br />
<i></i><br />
<a name='more'></a><i><br /></i><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Don't get turned into a zombie during assembly!</span><br />
<br />
Necessity and a contempt for losing time are the mother of my process, as I needed my plastic dudesmen to engage in a furious battle versus Jack on the same day. <br />
<br />
In retrospect, turning 930 pieces of plastic into 90 poxwalkers in 2 hours is a pretty simple task.<br />
<br />
So here's how you do it:<br />
<br />
A couple of disclaimers:<br />
<br />
You need: 2 large containers, clippers, a hobby knife, superglue and activator. Some sort of motivation, like this.<br />
I didn't have a plan and never built any poxwalker prior to that, so I was pretty much as clueless as possible.<br />
The models are not exactly paint-ready, there are still some cleaning to do if you want them to look swell, they are however, playable and all have arms/heads. We've all been on the receiving side of the torso-only marines army.<br />
<br />
<br />
The plan:<br />
<br />
As you know, I'm big on plans, that's how I save a lot of time. Because I was a little but confused with the bits and pieces of these 9 kits, I figured the easiest way would be to get my guys on the bases 1st, and then sort out the 1 or 2 additional pieces that goes on each of them while everything is sorted out. <br />
<br />
This works well because of 2 reasons: The models are simple, no more than 4 pieces each, and I'm really working on 10 different models, only 9 copies of each.<br />
<br />
Step 1: Clipping like there's no tomorrow<br />
<br />
Step one is clipping every single Poxwalker piece and dump them in one of your large container ( empty box lid ) Dont try to sort anything out just yet, just get it over with like a savage.<br />
<br />
Step 2: Cleaning the bare minimum<br />
<br />
Pick up the feet bits, and make sure the connection with the base is clean and flat. At this stage, I didn't remove any other mold line or sprue residue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG5lIk7vpoYrmGP1n4_1Z7_TF0GX4dd_W7n9-z_XRpB6dMU1JKU29JVTSfjkDAf3WPaaAalzbn_quMS7RpM_5EAjMMpLUwF_ffPMlxnPCYPpHyxF2JsA22X2Ik822U9v_5coNU-5374uc/s1600/21769165_1268230946614202_1834286060_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="852" data-original-width="1136" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG5lIk7vpoYrmGP1n4_1Z7_TF0GX4dd_W7n9-z_XRpB6dMU1JKU29JVTSfjkDAf3WPaaAalzbn_quMS7RpM_5EAjMMpLUwF_ffPMlxnPCYPpHyxF2JsA22X2Ik822U9v_5coNU-5374uc/s320/21769165_1268230946614202_1834286060_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 3: Boots on the ground<br />
<br />
Now is where you start to make sense of the chaos... a little. Glue all your dudes on bases so they stand up and are easy to tell apart and build on. <br />
<br />
The way i do this is quite savage, but quite time-effective: I put glue on the feet of a handful of dudes, spray activator on a bunch of bases and then add the models to their bases. by doing this with 5-6 at a time, this process goes a lot faster as you don't fidget quite as much between glue, activator and models.<br />
<br />
When you're done with your handful, place them in your second container, keeping the different poses apart.<br />
<br />
When you're done, you should have something like this ( 10 different models with 9 copies of each )<br />
<br />
Step 4: Un-mix and Match<br />
<br />
Now is where my plan ended, but I was in the right tracks. next step is to separate the different pieces. I find that going from easiest to hardest is the best course of action here. So starting with the big pieces to thin out all the bits, then the odd parts with tentacles and finally the heads.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFMUqNUQFxAlCavh3sg2osxaLJRsR8QyI3KkRsoQmbIEc5liAG5oO138AVT4unr5QFjrcfFXZUSijl9s7CLnGWgdo0TPZGnNpbisXhNUz9r9VTKKOv1JKET9EZB45gX_dR743lvTV6Xg8/s1600/21691082_1268230839947546_1319805035_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="270" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFMUqNUQFxAlCavh3sg2osxaLJRsR8QyI3KkRsoQmbIEc5liAG5oO138AVT4unr5QFjrcfFXZUSijl9s7CLnGWgdo0TPZGnNpbisXhNUz9r9VTKKOv1JKET9EZB45gX_dR743lvTV6Xg8/s320/21691082_1268230839947546_1319805035_n.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 5: Minimal Cleanup, the redrop Vol. 2a remix<br />
<br />
Only looking for the connections ( where pieces touche each other ) clean up any sprue residue or flash line that would impair the building process. Minimal is key here, don't get carried away.<br />
<br />
Step 6: One by one by one<br />
<br />
Again going with the easiest to the hardest, pick a piece and glue all copies of that before moving to the next piece. These one I did not do with the handful technique of step 3 as I want to make sure the piece are glued correctly.<br />
<br />
And voila, 2 hours later, you are done and have fully built smiling zombie dudes to take the field. Before painting, you should line up your models again and do a final cleaning step with a hobby knife and/or fine sand paper.<br />
<br />

With all the new Death Guards incoming, I've sorted out through the 4 and a half Dark Imperium boxes that I had, and built all my Poxwalkers.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Because I have 90 of the new ones, I don't think these will see much play, so I'd rather send them to a good home than have them collect dust at the store on a shelf.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
60 Military / Vietnam themed Zombies - Tabletop condition, some battle damage. I got these back in early 6th edition, they are mixed plastic and metal bits and sadly I don't remember from which company I got them from.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
This week is a little different, as all the hobby work I've been doing was mostly behind the scene's stuff for the blog. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
I'm in the process of moving the blogspot to a wordpress template, that is a lot more customizable, looks more professional and friendlier for the various promotions I got going on, affiliate links and the e-books mostly.</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">

<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
Second thing, while I'm not saying I'm leaving the tournament scene, again, it is a down period for me, with nothing but the QCO, that I'm setting up, lined up before April. I'm using this time to pour work into the store with the guys. They put up these nice shelves to clear up some space next to the desks. </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
I've designed this one as my bits shelf, and am in the process of sorting everything up. It's stayed in a messy pile ever since I moved them out of my appartement in June.<br />

<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
That's the only thing remotely hobby related that happened this week.</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal;">
And finally, I've been looking a whole lot into making custom dice, paint brushes and other gaming/ painting doodads. So stay tuned for that.<br />

<br />
As promised last week, this week's Hobby Weekly is a showcase of JC's finished Ultramarines tanks. Welcome to hobby weekly, where each week I ramble on about the stuff I've been doing hobby wise.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Because of the beautiful thing that is technology, I wrote this article on my way to NOVA, so I don't know if JC did well or not with the beasts, but regardless of winning and losing, he did it in style fo sho!<br />
<br />

Razorbacks:<br />
<br />
Quite happy with these guys. Simple and to the point, the fancy assault canon turrets and doors from Forge World make these models stand out without much additional effort.<br />

<br />
What a beast! The quad-lascanons per side were a real pain to paint while assembled. Because it's all resin and they actually swivel around ( and, also not mine ), I didn't want to break them off. If you own of of these, don't glue the lascanon battery before painting, you will hate yourself.<br />

<br />
<br />
The over all look of the models is based around JC's current army, which is painted darker than regular Ultramarines and on reddish-brown bases. So the blue is not your typical Ultramarine blue and the tracks are rusted and heavily weathered to match the models bases. <br />

<br />
Big tournament, big tanks! And Gary. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Welcome to hobby weekly, where each week I ramble on about the stuff I've been doing hobby wise.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div>
This week is a big one, as I was on full NOVA prep, painting not only my own stuff, but also a bunch of tanks for JC, who's coming with us.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItfV_rOu85WeZbgvEc3oZ1eAIqqwQzaSnP0cipvij3pny2xEQ3WAS_ooIyWayd9oCV7GMyiBMP5bRPpLCrIPg2OfmBRgo9LJBdzSyRmjfqgOazGx9xFAHPfmtTM9VG87e9oQdsNAlxGc/s1600/21175743_1252323128204984_1691282509_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="270" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiItfV_rOu85WeZbgvEc3oZ1eAIqqwQzaSnP0cipvij3pny2xEQ3WAS_ooIyWayd9oCV7GMyiBMP5bRPpLCrIPg2OfmBRgo9LJBdzSyRmjfqgOazGx9xFAHPfmtTM9VG87e9oQdsNAlxGc/s320/21175743_1252323128204984_1691282509_n.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmk_gS-ZUvxPCnv9edAtpuFGOzHWFoMF8TC9lYncKNOLJUa9J3VoqoDym2dqDQflqYP7VMiNsRAjSAU-YsZAuDzMaeuWQHhZ6t7d-wBoBuJ3hDCmn920SjswJAf9uypYPUdYm-PS0TP2g/s1600/21244580_1252323184871645_301032745_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="270" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmk_gS-ZUvxPCnv9edAtpuFGOzHWFoMF8TC9lYncKNOLJUa9J3VoqoDym2dqDQflqYP7VMiNsRAjSAU-YsZAuDzMaeuWQHhZ6t7d-wBoBuJ3hDCmn920SjswJAf9uypYPUdYm-PS0TP2g/s320/21244580_1252323184871645_301032745_n.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, here's Gary, the Gravis Captain. I wanted to bring something to the Capital Palette thing, NOVA's painting competition. Mostly because my bud Joshua Dunkerly will also probably bring some of his cool models, and I'm not one to let him show off alone, and also because it's been a while since I painted something that flexed my painting muscles.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy speed painting an army a week, but variety being the spice of life, this guy is a welcome change.</div>
<div>
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_c4gctOl4FkQXJyxP37BxyM1R_VH5TnV-QhM8YakLQ7rKsyf7FuMW97NtiHH7xoRQVsx71gqXyViT1gieBIhVmbYooqQ3QT8MsvesJqOxLElwKFtyQDtaWWf0axz53gC40sMYUPefu4I/s1600/21245163_1252323024871661_664876261_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="360" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_c4gctOl4FkQXJyxP37BxyM1R_VH5TnV-QhM8YakLQ7rKsyf7FuMW97NtiHH7xoRQVsx71gqXyViT1gieBIhVmbYooqQ3QT8MsvesJqOxLElwKFtyQDtaWWf0axz53gC40sMYUPefu4I/s320/21245163_1252323024871661_664876261_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Second hobbying madness, JC's tanks. JC is my favorite type of custommer, because it goes like this:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Max: Alright man, anything specific besides Ultramarines for your tanks ?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
JC: I trust you, whatever you feel like as long as I don't have to paint them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Shake hands, done deal. Now the ball is in my hands to deliver before NOVA. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here they are in their WIP glory. I have grand plans for those tracks, and like the dude's rug, they will tie the models together with the army. Also, yes there will be the classic green glow, come on!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I don't think I will have time for an update before NOVA, so you will have to tune in next Tuesday for the finished pictures.</div>

Here's a quick list of various things everyone keeps track during games:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<ul>
<li>command points, </li>
<li>mission, turns, </li>
<li>mission points, </li>
<li>psychic powers, </li>
<li>gifts, </li>
<li>warlord traits, </li>
<li>summoning points spent</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Don't destroy tournament packs no mo, keep scoring with you. It erases after every game, so you can't get confused between tournament games with stuff you've previously written down.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I waited for a while before making a post on the boogie board, but now that it's on sale on amazon, I can't see a reason not to get one. Don't say I didn't warn you though, you won't be able to play without one after!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
A weekend of gaming has come and gone, and your favorite frenchie is back with tales from the Capital City Blood Bath, a 40K tournament held in Ottawa.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
So I know updates have been few and far apart lately, but truth is, so has my hobby time. I've been dealing with a lot of unrelated issues and fell out of touch with my 3-4 jobs schedule balance. <br />
<br />
But no more. I've spent a whole week painting and fixing everything that was falling a part, and the CCBB weekend was the perfect time to celebrate and get drunk out of my mind. And, also, play some sort of Warhammer games.<br />
<br />
<b>The list:</b><br />
<br />
The CCBB was no-codex and no-FW tournament, so my nurgle army was a no-go. Rather than tweak it to remove all the FW items, I just fell back on my fancy Ultramarines Disco Rockets. I did however take 3 hours out of my week to paint myself some IG. 35 conscripts, a comissar and an officer later, ready I am. <a href="https://mismatchedplay.com/2017/08/04/army-spotlight-disco-rockets/#more-51">Click here for the list.</a><br />
<br />
<b>Game 1</b>:<br />
<br />
Game 1 was versus the infamous Jeff Brown, whom I've met at various events before but never had the chance to play until then.<br />
<br />
Jeff had a quite brutal army, Storm Ravens with Militarum Tempestus and Tauroxes. The game was quite straightforward, and I quickly realized that getting Maelstrom Points would be hard in the tournament, and even harder versus and army like Jeff's.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJH92tqXnuZPic_zC8RRtZ6tmQ4EbKSIjZ8rklYPIVZyXvEMPGTm4qODEnGcXW0cboIbA2GogiD549v-Z2VMrLtX0ziJcv3Rta0i_73HjBu0lvAij_0J0B4O59B3djJI3Ndj62fXt-59g/s1600/21081669_1248191751951455_1458713466_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="852" data-original-width="1136" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJH92tqXnuZPic_zC8RRtZ6tmQ4EbKSIjZ8rklYPIVZyXvEMPGTm4qODEnGcXW0cboIbA2GogiD549v-Z2VMrLtX0ziJcv3Rta0i_73HjBu0lvAij_0J0B4O59B3djJI3Ndj62fXt-59g/s320/21081669_1248191751951455_1458713466_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I did manage to play keepaway with some objectives once I realized winning was not going to happen and scored a decent 6 points out of 20, rather than 0.<br />
<br />
<b>Game 2:</b><br />
<br />
My second game was versus Connor, who played Sisters of Battle and Space Wolves, with fancy primaris marines. Again, getting Maelstrom Points proved quite hard with an advancing army to deal with and resilient Primaris marines in the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaGpQ3zKK6PvcvJRsxzlHs7N4a5JjkTDQsxutSRRFJ9DUbYHvSSH3HhnMVht-uUWgLu-6PnZ509hfNM1DwvyH51f4wjz1r_iSEDnUkiTXUONSW8M7WU7D8-V1s_bTYnzQYUW9EHy-ea_c/s1600/21123186_1248191448618152_1220253845_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="757" data-original-width="1136" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaGpQ3zKK6PvcvJRsxzlHs7N4a5JjkTDQsxutSRRFJ9DUbYHvSSH3HhnMVht-uUWgLu-6PnZ509hfNM1DwvyH51f4wjz1r_iSEDnUkiTXUONSW8M7WU7D8-V1s_bTYnzQYUW9EHy-ea_c/s320/21123186_1248191448618152_1220253845_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The game was really fun and I was drinking quite heavily at that point, and the final score escapes me. It was either a draw or a close win for Connor, maybe 12-8 in points.<br />
<br />
<b>Game 3:</b><br />
<br />
My time to shine! Ynnari Eldars is one of the best matchup for the Disco Rockets, and I had grudge to settle versus Marc-André, my 3rd round opponent, after he beat me at Chaos Ludik a couple months back.<br />
<br />
To put it in Ultramarines' terms: I smurfed him good.<br />

<br />
<br />
The game was pretty brutal for him, losing the Yncarne and both his airplanes on my turn one, after he failed to kill my Comissar Lord with his pathfinders. This chain of events meant that the game snowballed out of MA's control pretty quickly, and he finished with a single farseer on the table.<br />
<br />
Despite the horrible rolls he had and the slaughter of his pointy eared models, the game ended closer to 14-6 for me rather than a flat 20-0.<br />
<br />
<b>Game 4:</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx_vHBz_39J8ohK7MtDupm83-JaLfP-7VTB0_CPatqPWadb9cSJrcS94bMz3pFgzny6FLnQfCAdLtn0sKsz9lGQCqTKj28oiE5lfCNwV-EosNJ5iJ0eb2-0H60LixvJUPuySp4h8fOV7g/s1600/21074200_1248191431951487_580376868_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="720" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx_vHBz_39J8ohK7MtDupm83-JaLfP-7VTB0_CPatqPWadb9cSJrcS94bMz3pFgzny6FLnQfCAdLtn0sKsz9lGQCqTKj28oiE5lfCNwV-EosNJ5iJ0eb2-0H60LixvJUPuySp4h8fOV7g/s320/21074200_1248191431951487_580376868_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The submarine is getting real here, as I am paired versus orks, another great matchup for the rockets. However my opponent Nate is no slouch, and knows how to play this match properly: cagey.<br />
<br />
With a huge building sitting in the middle of the board, I have to move around with the devastators in order to kill stuff, but also remain in a safe position, as getting too close means getting wreckedy-wrecked. The game ended somewhat draw, with me edging a couple of points over the orks.<br />
<br />
<b>Game 5:</b><br />
<br />
I am paired versus my buddy Seb, and his list looks quite brutal. 5 Shooty Dreadnoughts, 5 Razorbacks, 60 conscripts, Azrael, a Darkshroud and St-Celestine. Wowza!<br />
<br />
The good thing about this game is that I have less drops, and going first means destroying a couple of tanks early on and making a sweet push with the conscripts torwards the relic. But of course Seb seized on me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuQuLVP82cenJZQsrc4BN6mkZvs4Vod7iCazezp-sJLtpkqObguJO_OJ9WcJbrJwhH4EoLhAZme3GagD88Cb4lUQEKu6iECpDSKlnrdD9VIha5a1gyl9IE_-SXf1Woku5Rvuj_1jtHheY/s1600/21104541_1248191581951472_1010478845_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="852" data-original-width="1136" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuQuLVP82cenJZQsrc4BN6mkZvs4Vod7iCazezp-sJLtpkqObguJO_OJ9WcJbrJwhH4EoLhAZme3GagD88Cb4lUQEKu6iECpDSKlnrdD9VIha5a1gyl9IE_-SXf1Woku5Rvuj_1jtHheY/s320/21104541_1248191581951472_1010478845_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The game went pretty well, mostly because 4 of the 6 tanks I blew up first exploded and proceeded to kill Azrael for me, and a few lucky rolls on maelstrom objectives.<br />
<br />
The game ended up something 12-11 or something for Seb, which I was quite pleased with considering his better list ( in my opinion ) and unfortunate seizing on me.<br />
<br />
<b>Game 6:</b><br />
<br />
I was pretty close to dropping out because 2 of my buds were playing one another in Age of Sigmar and spectating their game while trashtalking seemed like waaaaay more fun at that point. In the end, we decided to play, and I was paired versus an Armitage brother ( bad at names ) from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TBMCV/">the infamous Basement Collective</a>!<br />
<br />
The mission is Kill Points, and I'm facing a double Stormsurge and triple Ghostkeel list, which is another good matchup for my gunline.<br />
<br />
I'm pretty sure the game was over within an hour, with a pretty solid Smurfing of the Tau. I proceeded with my initial plan to yell insults at my Age of Sigmar friends.<br />
<br />
<b>Overview:</b><br />
<br />
Not a Best General worthy tournament like last year, but what a fun time I had! I did end up somewhat tied with Will Paul for best sports, but no one can really compete with that guy.<br />
<br />
Notable things:<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Unrelated to the tournament, the restaurant we went to on Saturday night ran out of beers and had to get more from a close by franchise. I'm not saying we drank them all, but we were definitely the bigger part of the problem.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>I beat Jeff Brown in a dance off.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>At least 3 of my opponents called me a dumbass for playing Abba's Dancing Queen during my games and infering the song was meant for Guilliman and/or would boost his close combat prowess. This is my biggest win of the weekend.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li>Joce, my partner in crime in this road trip, destroyed the Age of Sigmar, wining something like 4 different categories. P-L, who was my roomie last year, got Best Painted player's vote for a second year in a row. </li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
Overall, CCBB is one hell of a convention, which I will be quite happy to return next year.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-801641217002106297.post-31453479131545750802017-08-10T08:00:00.000-04:002017-08-10T08:00:10.626-04:00New Army Ahead!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWsWg9yDWHJ3O2kEHOGSKbpJotTlNQdZ8YMPrpjEpETMO5sKzla_bPqMHiUtCMEX1RCgVL7Y-FOStT9caZu7YNcnFjQup3cFUE8GZZoPReB8VdA4KzPYQF11eLiZZ1tWbcDIh_Px-aFZM/s1600/20630109_1231362383634392_1033217346_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="852" data-original-width="1136" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWsWg9yDWHJ3O2kEHOGSKbpJotTlNQdZ8YMPrpjEpETMO5sKzla_bPqMHiUtCMEX1RCgVL7Y-FOStT9caZu7YNcnFjQup3cFUE8GZZoPReB8VdA4KzPYQF11eLiZZ1tWbcDIh_Px-aFZM/s320/20630109_1231362383634392_1033217346_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
An hour a day on terrain gets you a whole lot of tables. At least, that's my tactic for building 32 tables worth of terrain in a short delay.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
A while back, we had a big terrain building day to prepare for the Quebec City Open. <a href="http://hellfirepainting.blogspot.ca/2017/06/make-terrain-great-again.html">You can read that article here</a>.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The terrain day was a huge success, and the bulk of the work, the hard part, got done almost in full. What is left now is finishing each box to tournament ready status.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So that's pretty much what I'm doing now. Everyday last week, I got to the shop an hour early, picked up a box and made sure it was viable terrain.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now, I'm going for bulk, IE, I want to get 32 tables done to a good enough look, but if you are working on a single table instead of a lot, pick a single piece of terrain to finish daily instead of a whole box.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is a pretty decent strategy, and I feel like I get easily get through all the boxes before the Quebec City Open, with time to spare for other terrain, like the awesome THM stuff, Blood Bowl stuff and a buttload of 2D terrain that I have no idea how to do at the moment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's a week's worth of terrain hacking, an hour a day:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
What projects? Glad you asked!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1st in line is a 30K Magnus and display base for Eric, to go with his Leman Russ. Well, to go with his Primarch collection, as Eric had me do all the FW Primarchs so far. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2nd project before Warly McWarlordface, Guillaume's Stormcast Eternals. When Age of Sigmar was released, I picked up a whole lot of Stormcast Eternals, and painted a huge army of the then-available models. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My friend Guillaume picked up the stormcast from me a while back, and expanded the collection to the entire range of currently available units, with extra paladins ( 'cause they be ballin' ) and needs them to match.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This project barely compares with GMM's insane Stormcast commish, but it's enough to keep me busy for a while.</div>
<div>

<br />
Skipped the Tuesday post, have, we?<br />
<br />
Well, not exactly,<a href="https://mismatchedplay.com/2017/07/17/what-to-take-away-from-the-atc/"> it's just elsewhere</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
If you were paying enough attention ( read: if you are the stalkin' psycho-hose b* i expect you to be ) there are 2 things you probably know about me.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://hellfirepainting.blogspot.ca/2017/07/so-i-lied.html">I love tournaments.</a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://hellfirepainting.blogspot.ca/2015/12/2015-in-review-2016-resolutions.html#more">I've wanted to start a podcast for a while.</a><br />
<br />
Now a hobby podcast is pretty much garbage, it's all fun and all, but the lack of visual support to talk about visual things is quite counter-productive.<br />
<br />
However, tournament podcast are also few and far between. Specially tournament podcasts with credible source and hardcore content.<br />
<br />
No more.<br />
<br />
Enters my new project, <a href="https://mismatchedplay.com/">Mismatched Play</a>.<br />
<br />
For the time being, we will go back to 1 hobby post on here per week, because I still hobby a lot, and I've been painting hardcore for the past 2 weeks, so I have much to share with you all.<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />
No excuses; hobby like a champion!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-801641217002106297.post-73543969371273782452017-07-13T08:00:00.000-04:002017-07-13T08:00:23.173-04:00Desk Declutter for Dummies<div>
Cleaning up your hobby desk is the literral worst.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You lose precious hobby time, it's boring and more often than not, it gets messy again 3 days later.<br />
<br /></div>

<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Declutter for Dummies.</span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To do this, we have a two-prong approach:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1- Be Gone</div>
<div>
2- Stay Gone</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>To paraphrase words of wisdom from Denis Rodman: The best defense against a messy desk is offense.</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1- Be Gone</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The reason things get messy real quick is because everything is accessible, even if it shouldn't be. Things you use once every 2 months stay on your desk "because I will need that real quick" or because " let's just do this now, it will take a second". The mere thoughts of the sort is evil and should be treated as such.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Some things, like hardcore assembly tools, green stuff, sprues and bits don't need to be at arms length all the time. The same goes for basing materials, or terrain building supplies. Or 460 different pots of paint for that matter.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijksx_0b7_6bV4IY3lB7NW-wlggmGw6RxmKg3BysH-pOSRXTUZaUtdZFlxj66meCa1CKmHlnxyPHWwLbBFzpNqPkMzvRf9hyphenhyphen52SMo2dDikDGPvm_RAWdlep2muiU8mxQul7YY7VXxNzVI/s1600/20117657_1212994248804539_755487011_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="360" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijksx_0b7_6bV4IY3lB7NW-wlggmGw6RxmKg3BysH-pOSRXTUZaUtdZFlxj66meCa1CKmHlnxyPHWwLbBFzpNqPkMzvRf9hyphenhyphen52SMo2dDikDGPvm_RAWdlep2muiU8mxQul7YY7VXxNzVI/s320/20117657_1212994248804539_755487011_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiamc-vafxJ4MIpECOPMW-DRcg59HH2U-oIwMaE7ufl6INsSnexvKL6pihSMtzzIpZ7s1STwu82IoJhbNsRGCAXxFT-F5oWS5WKQzRtnDlDAWSmUtPUy9V6BcEUlGR5Xfd6Q8MRbETtEBk/s1600/20068120_1212994265471204_1566758477_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="360" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiamc-vafxJ4MIpECOPMW-DRcg59HH2U-oIwMaE7ufl6INsSnexvKL6pihSMtzzIpZ7s1STwu82IoJhbNsRGCAXxFT-F5oWS5WKQzRtnDlDAWSmUtPUy9V6BcEUlGR5Xfd6Q8MRbETtEBk/s320/20068120_1212994265471204_1566758477_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
Like, why the primer, or the full set of oil paints? Or 3 water pots? Literally 0 point to this.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So grab big ass boxes and throw unceremoniously things in there. You can divide in 3-4 different boxes with themes, like: Terrain, Assembly, Paint and Bits. Not 75 boxes. 3 or 4. 5 tops, if you have like 7 different airbrushes and a buttload of doodads to go with them.<br />
<br />
What you keep ? The basics:<br />
<br />
Assembly:<br />
Hobby Knife,<br />
Clippers<br />
Glue<br />
<br />
Painting:<br />
Paint brushes ( Again, you don't know the 32 super big and destroyed brushes for terrain )<br />
Couple of paint pots relevant to your current project. No, you probably don't need 54 shades of blue if you're painting Nurgle Daemons<br />
<br />

<br />
Water Pot,<br />
Paper towel and palette<br />
<br />
Your compressor and airbrush ( or like 2 airbrushes if you have multiple, like 1 large spray and a smaller spray )<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
This minimalistic approach to keeping the bare minimum is abusing our laziness. If stuff is not easy to access, you'll wait for a worthwhile occasion to take it out.<br />
<br />
2- Stay Gone<br />
<br />
Now the hard part here is to keep this uncluttered space uncluttered. Cycle through what you use between projects, don't add stuff to the pile.<br />
<br />
Now this seems rather intuitive, but it's not. It's how you end up from this:<br />
<br />
To this:<br />
<br />
<br />
The best way, I find is having some for or organisation. Which bring me to my next point: cool useful toys!<br />
<br />
Useful desk organiser doodad #1, brought to you by my roomamte's " Oooooooh I want one for my makeup!"<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?ref=qf_sp_asin_til&t=hellfire09-20&m=amazon&o=15&p=8&l=as1&IS1=1&asins=B00O9SPPS6&linkId=535bb4f2aed55525a4c4f8457889a53f&bc1=FFFFFF&lt1=_top&fc1=333333&lc1=0066C0&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="background-position: 0px 0px; display: none !important; height: 240px; opacity: 0 !important; visibility: hidden !important; width: 120px;" width="0"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<a href="https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00O9SPPS6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=B00O9SPPS6&linkCode=as2&tag=hellfire09-20&linkId=37d47cffea693a07fe42d3bc6ecb8312" target="_blank">Ohuhu Acrylic Makeup Cosmetics Organizer 3 Drawers with Top Section, 9.4 by 7.5- Inch, Transparent</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="//ir-ca.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hellfire09-20&l=am2&o=15&a=B00O9SPPS6" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" /><br />
<br />
This thing is solid, fits everything you need handy and keeps the clutter away. Doesn't fit in the fancy cabinet, doesn't belong on the desk.<br />
<br />
The next cool doodad is a great bitz and terrain accessory box:<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?ref=tf_til&t=hellfire09-20&m=amazon&o=15&p=8&l=as1&IS1=1&asins=B000HJBA1W&linkId=5bc14747c39162bea5c08993d339659e&bc1=ffffff&lt1=_top&fc1=333333&lc1=0066c0&bg1=ffffff&f=ifr" style="background-position: 0px 0px; display: none !important; height: 240px; opacity: 0 !important; visibility: hidden !important; width: 120px;" width="0"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?ref=tf_til&t=hellfire09-20&m=amazon&o=15&p=8&l=as1&IS1=1&asins=B000HJBA1W&linkId=be14d025c16d3385c89f3ee40f0fb158&bc1=FFFFFF&lt1=_top&fc1=333333&lc1=0066C0&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="background-position: 0px 0px; display: none !important; height: 240px; opacity: 0 !important; visibility: hidden !important; width: 120px;" width="0"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
You can fix those on a wall, or stack them and use as a boxes with easy sorting up. These are a lot more practical than plain old boxes and much more likely to keep your clutter away.<br />
<br />
And last but not least, a paint organiser. These things are really hard to shop for, because everyone has a different ideal on where to put paints. Some want wall mount, some desk mount, some want horizontal shelving, other vertical. So you might shop around, or get these, which are convenient and incredibly affordable.<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" height="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?ref=qf_sp_asin_til&t=hellfire09-20&m=amazon&o=15&p=8&l=as1&IS1=1&asins=B00LTIG03I&linkId=13e0d02359cb3415ad3f52b30743820d&bc1=FFFFFF&lt1=_top&fc1=333333&lc1=0066C0&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="background-position: 0px 0px; display: none !important; height: 240px; opacity: 0 !important; visibility: hidden !important; width: 120px;" width="0"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<a href="https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00LTIG03I/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=B00LTIG03I&linkCode=as2&tag=hellfire09-20&linkId=1bf23e0f54ba7d1dc643b4b5403d7c1b" target="_blank">Acrylic Nail Polish Varnish Small 3-Tier Display Stand Beauty Organiser by Kurtzy TM</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="//ir-ca.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hellfire09-20&l=am2&o=15&a=B00LTIG03I" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" /><br />
<br />
It offers 3 rows that fit any type of pain pots. Again, picking a rack that isn't too big is the ket here.<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />

<br />
<h2>
The Online Guide of Newhammer Gitgud-ing</h2>
<br />
8th edition 40K seems to have brought back a lot of veteran players from the 5th edition era. This is awesome news for the game, and for anyone with a limited player base that has to otherwise play Kevin on the regular. Over the last month, I've been bombarded with questions on where to look for rules, armies and a bunch of whatnots.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMRji_SlpvXO4JyVnfg3FQ1jKxRxycGIy5kPW5bzsA1KlWghP35xy5RGrE_FpBoArzjrG0zQEXSVWw2KN5zoemRmLjn7yJ_ePIsvcB4G3tUZhuweKvqSqqjwzL0EDueZ1taJdDXoe6ZHM/s1600/1200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="675" data-original-width="1200" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMRji_SlpvXO4JyVnfg3FQ1jKxRxycGIy5kPW5bzsA1KlWghP35xy5RGrE_FpBoArzjrG0zQEXSVWw2KN5zoemRmLjn7yJ_ePIsvcB4G3tUZhuweKvqSqqjwzL0EDueZ1taJdDXoe6ZHM/s320/1200.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<b>So I am writing this as somewhere I can point people to. </b><br />
<br />
Here it is, my guide to where to find quality 40K stuff.<br />
<br />
Small disclaimer, I am not a keyboard warrior/mall ninja/frequent poster of anything and might be missing some great places. If so, hit me up and after checking it out, I'll add it to the list if it upholds the Hellfire Painting standard of not sucking ass.<br />
<br />
I look for 3 things in whatever ressources I consult:<br />
<br />
- Accurate information<br />
<br />
Groups and people who blatantly give out wrong information turn me off faster than a grandma in a bikini.<br />
<br />
- Positivity<br />
<br />
I like people who enjoy things. This whole blog is based on positive information ( things that work or things we like ) and we hold others to the same positive attitude towards the hobby. If all you have to offer is complaints and whine, we can't be bros.<br />
<br />
- Consistency<br />
<br />
You have to uphold the 2 criteria above all the time. The ressources I tune into always are accurate and positive. It's not a needle of quality in a haystack of posts that I'm after. I might miss an occasional bomb article once in a while, but it's a price I'm willing to pay for not having to browse through 14 baddies to find a decent bathroom read.<br />
<br />
Anything not in these fields I will ignore and unfollow faster than girls and cups.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Painting</h3>
Painting and hobby in general, I like a wide variety of things and techniques. Some you keep, some you discard, but I do follow a lot of channels and painters. Here are my favorites at the moment.<br />
<br />
<b>Hellfire Painting</b><br />
<br />
Like, bro, obviously.<br />
<br />
<b>Hobby with the Cat Daddy</b><br />
<br />
Not the actual name, sadly, but the<a href="https://www.twitch.tv/spikeybitstv" target="_blank"> Spikey Bits hobby twitch channel </a>I find quite interesting<br />
<br />
<b>Our lord and savior Duncan</b><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEaPE4sLDA7ucJ0dkiVZSW6ghZUNGFHIW" target="_blank">GW's youtube channel</a> is blooming, and Duncan's painting videos are awesome and a must watch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg22MRyy7kipofhvnQU3Js0X4dlydpNRDPHzWPMEx55Fx1lQEs4-q7PbBGgGGy7JCWoiRVKt6Nsc7VEXvDz5AI4fvfFLJQUfKD7oGO25yss_mX0Fe7MBnDc8_5tV_GNdF7akh4U5XJxxOE/s1600/1483938366078.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="401" data-original-width="596" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg22MRyy7kipofhvnQU3Js0X4dlydpNRDPHzWPMEx55Fx1lQEs4-q7PbBGgGGy7JCWoiRVKt6Nsc7VEXvDz5AI4fvfFLJQUfKD7oGO25yss_mX0Fe7MBnDc8_5tV_GNdF7akh4U5XJxxOE/s320/1483938366078.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>Honorable mentions</b><br />
<br />
There's a couple of artists I've enjoyed lately on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/hellfirepainting/" target="_blank">instagram</a>: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sensei.swag/">sensei.swag</a>, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jura_aka_gruumsh/">jura_aka_gruumsh</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/james_mchugh80/">james_mchugh80</a><br />
<h3>
List Building</h3>
<div>
I never discuss lists on the internet, except with friends, because it's infuriating otherwise. Also, I don't enjoy list building, and I usually take lists straight from somewhere/someone and don't give it much more thoughts. I hate every single forum, message board and facebook group with people discussing lists. #sorrynotsorry<br />
<br />
However...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Tournament Recaps </b> </div>
<div>
Not a ressource in itself, you have to investigate a little for the top X lists from major events. These lists are my go-to.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><a href="https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2017/06/19/tzeentch-flying-circus-in-newhammer/" target="_blank">Frontline gaming </a></b></div>
<div>
This one you have to be careful, as FLG has lots of contributors, so you have to check who's the author before blindly taking a list there. My Nova Invitational list and my upcoming Daemons' list come from articles found on FLG</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3cEoZV1BsBLeJy5LxGNRtw" target="_blank">The Long War</a></b><br />
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
This one goes against my consistency rules a little, as I only watch the battle reports on the channel. <br />
<br />
I like the lists on there a lot. They are usually off-meta a little bit and use janky and/or clunky combos that are awesome to play with and against, while maintaining some competitive edge to them.</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWzdINY8RJhXDCxfjMhRJh8NgiOgB7pnR20n1euQD38UGrX38IEfFf-wzU5Zb0SSGHSzZNv5RpVD4NMsSqhGAaw27F9OgR9B6LfGrPqmdWfUpNq4qDLNYOyn0nDSrK9p7E9keqBb77FaU/s1600/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-07-09a%25CC%258018.27.39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="620" data-original-width="929" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWzdINY8RJhXDCxfjMhRJh8NgiOgB7pnR20n1euQD38UGrX38IEfFf-wzU5Zb0SSGHSzZNv5RpVD4NMsSqhGAaw27F9OgR9B6LfGrPqmdWfUpNq4qDLNYOyn0nDSrK9p7E9keqBb77FaU/s320/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-07-09a%25CC%258018.27.39.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Tournaments</h3>
<div>
<b>Subscribe</b><br />
<br />
Again, not a ressource in itself, but the best tactic IMO for tournaments you know about and would like to attend. Subscribe to their feed, mailing lists, Twitter or Facebook. Or all the above. This way, you stay alerted of clutch information like next years dates, player pack readiness, hotel rez deals and the likes. <br />
<br />
My current rotation is: ATC, NOVA, QCO, LVO, Adepticon, CCBB, Beef N Wings, and Chaos Ludik. Ideally, I'd like to add 4 to the list and go to a big event each month. Realistically, I'll probably do 2-3 this year. That's a whole other bag.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<b><a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/CanadaITC40k/">Canadian ITC Enthusiasts</a></b></div>
<div>
Now obviously this ressource is tailored to my geographical need, but I'm pretty sure you can find a similar ressource wherever you're from. These groups are great to learn of cool event hapenning near you that are easier to attend than big GTs<br />
<br />
<br />
Once again, I might miss out on some, if your favorite place isn't on here, comment below! Never one to skip on tasty infos, I will browse through it and add it to my list of awesome.<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />

<br />
Well, here's the thing...<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
TOURNAMENTS ARE INSANELY FUN.<br />
<br />
Soooooo, I booked a flight for Tennesse.<br />
<br />
Team Wobbly Modelers ( aka. savages ) are attending the ATC once again. I have to admit that last year, it was one of my favorite event ever.<br />
<br />
So tournaments are pretty freakin' insane, yes. But 8th edition is also terribly fun. I'm 20ish games in the game and I'm having the time of my life.<br />
<br />
That being said, I am back in full tournament mode!<br />
<br />
I'll be sharing my list and a video of the painting process next week or so, as I'm waiting for all details submitted to the ATC. Not that it's the most inspired list ever, but with the new non-existent meta of 8th, we're keeping it under wraps.<br />
<br />
If you are attending <a href="http://www.whatc.org/" target="_blank">the ATC</a>, or if you happen to live close to East Ridge, TN, come by and say hi! and I will be happy to pound parking lot miller lites with you all.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-801641217002106297.post-54216859755978311572017-07-05T08:00:00.000-04:002017-07-05T08:00:08.504-04:00Honey, I'm home!Twice the fun this week, as the tittle was refering to 2 things.<br />

<br /></div>

It was pointed out recently by faithful reader Fred that the best in the business was not longer available on amazon. It's back now. In the meantime, we found this cool alternative that comes with a fancier and quieter compressor ( because of the tank ) and only a fraction more.</div>

B) New Schedule</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
By this, I mean my work schedule has cleared up, or , put more accurately, I cleared it up to make more time for this blog and hobbying. Bully!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What this means for you is no change in posting - still on a 3 blog post per week and a monday instagram motivational- but a lot more hobby related stuff going on like daily instagramz and facebook posts.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Wednesday's Weekly Hobby should have a lot more content as I have 15 hours to hobby rather than 5 or less. I might also start to take some projects for money again. If there's anything you fancy, drop me an email and we can talk commish.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Until next time,</div>
<div>
No excuses; hobby like a champion!</div>

This picture is taken from <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B072WNV6LW" target="_blank">my latest book</a> and was quite popular with my friends. It generally came with the comment : Dude, that rocks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7t3X04iCo5x7IHhONKFH3JiBi4THF_zeJJMQy7M-vN6K2U2H6nowr2MtL4NbKDDHclDjSc0evGaZ1kou3KzHcsxuzDmeLfbzMV9cKhft6OO-5kSNjmK_gdrpEvt9xYYMDTZOa12YUZDw/s1600/2201E3C3-6344-4740-BF16-30AAF30301D8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7t3X04iCo5x7IHhONKFH3JiBi4THF_zeJJMQy7M-vN6K2U2H6nowr2MtL4NbKDDHclDjSc0evGaZ1kou3KzHcsxuzDmeLfbzMV9cKhft6OO-5kSNjmK_gdrpEvt9xYYMDTZOa12YUZDw/s320/2201E3C3-6344-4740-BF16-30AAF30301D8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Get your brushes and get ready for yellow made easy!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
Now this technique will not get you an award or anything, but it’s simple enough that a blind monkey could do it and it looks pretty dope on a table. And it’s fast to do in bulk, so grab at least 3 units to paint them altogether.<br />
<br />
There is no messing around here.</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
In Bob Ross’ terms, this method is what is called a happy accident. I knew staining works well for gritty stuff like Death Guard, but for yellow to come out this way, goddamn.</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<h3>
Step 1 : Orange Basecoat</h3>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
I used The Army Painter orange for this with an airbrush to go faster, but white primer and a large brush will make short work of this. Or, better still, orange shaker can like this one ( <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000BRVQ46/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=B000BRVQ46&linkCode=as2&tag=hellfire09-20&linkId=54fe28abd3244665e6ce83ebb8652430" target="_blank">TAMTS-31 85031 Spray Lacquer TS31 Bright Orange 3 oz</a><img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="//ir-ca.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=hellfire09-20&l=am2&o=15&a=B000BRVQ46" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" />)</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1u6fCh-JWoE3NOINKotfdPT7Mobw2Hi-fuGZXivu4n-qO-3QZi86GAWjRIh95dE7pSYBuFIYaIxZB13ZnNCTM2_o7a4u_5gzhpv2__Ged3qGyyxsSrGGp1O-kFAxGXqU69Evk7_z_sr8/s1600/IMG_1832.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1u6fCh-JWoE3NOINKotfdPT7Mobw2Hi-fuGZXivu4n-qO-3QZi86GAWjRIh95dE7pSYBuFIYaIxZB13ZnNCTM2_o7a4u_5gzhpv2__Ged3qGyyxsSrGGp1O-kFAxGXqU69Evk7_z_sr8/s320/IMG_1832.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
You don’t really have to lay it on perfectly, but make sure the deep cracks and recesses are well covered. Also, don’t make the mistake of using an ornge that is too light. We are looking for bright and striking!</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<h3>
Step 2 : White Drybrush</h3>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Savage! Savage, you say? Well yes, very much so. As I said, we are not messing around here. While this is savagery, don’t slack on the drybrush. The cleaner (As clean as drybrush can be, really) your drybrush is, the better your yellow will look.</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
You can pay closer attention to the areas that you want to pop once the painting is finished.</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKz6zi2IyHhxuq1jmAUo0QcRWDke75hN4l2Bp1Ylm7BwxUVU_HZi-oLGDGLMldl7bS9SgPkcHJvygBQlk261X9HsxVUrjwXj1l_Wx78nydxs2mvmzrCTErnpXMsib7B2L3QekFoSAhO3I/s1600/IMG_1835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKz6zi2IyHhxuq1jmAUo0QcRWDke75hN4l2Bp1Ylm7BwxUVU_HZi-oLGDGLMldl7bS9SgPkcHJvygBQlk261X9HsxVUrjwXj1l_Wx78nydxs2mvmzrCTErnpXMsib7B2L3QekFoSAhO3I/s320/IMG_1835.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<h3>
Step 3 : Yellow Shade</h3>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
For this step, I used Games Woprkshop’s Cassandora Yellow. With the shade/tint phase, we want to give the model one even coat, rather that apply it on like a barbarian you would with a wash. </div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
This shade will tie in the orange and white and tone everything in a bright yellow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsGJq7sW8l8Ceh2pn4uBcr7DLm1aYLzeATRrlgzMBpDQTYWZlaOTeafRtP2W3zk3pTjLluwssgk3NfvusX9bHDMLMElGrNcubsTB3LNWeC56ZPlX6g5LNfVnWPPu8UVsRFRb1iq9VD6lc/s1600/IMG_1837.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsGJq7sW8l8Ceh2pn4uBcr7DLm1aYLzeATRrlgzMBpDQTYWZlaOTeafRtP2W3zk3pTjLluwssgk3NfvusX9bHDMLMElGrNcubsTB3LNWeC56ZPlX6g5LNfVnWPPu8UVsRFRb1iq9VD6lc/s320/IMG_1837.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Your model will look a little weird at the moment because there yelow all over the place. But once you add a couple of blocking colors on orther surfaces, BAM!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwwwnR_5_raKXBsdbClUZgVtkXnCsLCDYRTt0YygD8bgGk0LrPMizp8lLwblhyiFJ7toXD6y4hNqrwbdWkQVbyF7-knKxPCy9gA16pD4mhHxU4ZbjyEHpwHUgxBgzRKDPrvIsFcYEMT0g/s1600/IMG_1840.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwwwnR_5_raKXBsdbClUZgVtkXnCsLCDYRTt0YygD8bgGk0LrPMizp8lLwblhyiFJ7toXD6y4hNqrwbdWkQVbyF7-knKxPCy9gA16pD4mhHxU4ZbjyEHpwHUgxBgzRKDPrvIsFcYEMT0g/s320/IMG_1840.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br />
<br />
<h3>
Optional Step 4 - Classic Overachiever</h3>
</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
And really optional, we are not doing this to be fancy. There’s no point in adding unnecessary steps, but if you want a shinier look or to pimp out a character, you can highlight or drybrush (very lightly this time) with white.</div>
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 100%; margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Very lightly is the key here, you don’t want to take away all the work you did in the previous steps.<br />
<br />
<br />

Nevertheless, I did manage to get some bases ready for painting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj13AgT_qu_qYQ6cqCG7Eme7y2sgYkgN0ARUX4Sx59ZN4t6XN4zkG_Tr-luXHoDrh09vI8HD3_Y_oI3H1zriKUfgKHsPYW0F1rlRonJNpFyE3mRAgdcuBcWlEieDF-GahZnV33he6YzbtE/s1600/19489612_1198685516902079_1041728197_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj13AgT_qu_qYQ6cqCG7Eme7y2sgYkgN0ARUX4Sx59ZN4t6XN4zkG_Tr-luXHoDrh09vI8HD3_Y_oI3H1zriKUfgKHsPYW0F1rlRonJNpFyE3mRAgdcuBcWlEieDF-GahZnV33he6YzbtE/s320/19489612_1198685516902079_1041728197_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So here they are in all their sanded glory.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I got a lot of zombies back from Guillaume, to play Poxwalkers in my funsies Chaos Army, but for some reason, the bases for them went awol and were used on another army.<br />
<br />
Once painted, with grass tufts and zombies on top, it should look so patchy. At least that’s the plan.<br />
<br />
I should have them done for next week's Weekly Hobby, and then it's off with a bajillion projects as I have freed a lot of my schedule to do more hobby!<br />

<br />
Because one can never have too much hobby, I am now taking part in the store's Start Collecting Challenge!<br />
<br />
<i>What is that you may wonder?</i> Good question, bro; read on!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
This challenge is 4 months long, and ties in perfectly with the launch of 8th edition 40K. <br />

In month one, July, every player gets a Start Collecting or half of the Starter Set, builds and paint this set. In the last weekend of the month, we gather at the store to a) show off our month's work and b) have a good old fashion battle.<br />
<br />
In the following months, you buy a box of your choice to add to your Start Collecting force, paint it and bring at the end of the month's shindig. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
There are no real rules tied to this, just simple build it paint it bash it event.<br />
<br />
I have 2 armies lined up for 8th edition, some Ultramarines and a Nurgle-esque CSM army, but for this challenge, I'm instead torn between a Start Collecting Tzeentch or a Start Collecting Khorne.<br />
<br />
I sold off my ATC Daemons, and my Nurgle side of thing is pretty much complete, and all I have of other Daemons are the remains of my Tetrad (RIP) - A daemon Prince of each Slaanesh, Khorne and Tzeentch.<br />
<br />
Here's how I'm looking at things:<br />
<br />
<b>July </b><br />
SC! Tzeentch<br />
or<br />
SC! Khorne<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>August</b><br />
Lord of Change<br />
or<br />
Blood Thirster<br />
<br />
<b>September</b><br />
Blue Horors ( because splitting is cool and Brimstones seem to still be a valid competitive choice in the grand scheme of things )<br />
or<br />
Blood Crushers ( You get to play a Vanguard detachment ( or whichever is 1 Herald and 3 units of Crushers ) with the collection.<br />
<br />
<b>October</b><br />
I'm waiting on getting my ass handed over in the monthly games before picking something for the last month. I'm leaning towards a second LOC/BT, because the models are awesome and large violent beasts seem to be good in 8th. But that's a dilemma for future Max.<br />
<br />
So, all of this pondering to say, if you want to join in, please do! Internet is wonderful and I would love nothing more than showcase reader's Challenge models! And well, these might become a regular Weekly Hobby feature.<br />
<br />
Until next time,<br />
No excuses, hobby like a champion!<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>PS- I might also forego of this plan and dig into Astra Militarum or Nids, 2 armies I've had my eye on for a while that simply were not viable enough for me in 7th.</i>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-801641217002106297.post-2887137090748227942017-06-22T08:00:00.001-04:002017-06-22T08:00:04.295-04:00Do You Have the Base Essentials?Nope, not bare, not basic, base. As in, miniature bases, and the supplies you need to make them awesome.<br />

<br />
<br />
This week's Master your Mancave is everything about bases.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<h2>
Master your Mancave - BASE 4 DAYZ</h2>
<br />
Good bases make even the most 3-colored models stand out and look better than they should. In the same fashion, poor base choice or unfinished bases will ruin the prettiest of paint jobs. <br />
<br />
It's no wonder the Basic Book series are my best selling e-books, y'all ain't no fools, you know what is up.<br />
<br />
On a more practical approach, basing material is a logistical nightmare for your mancave. But there are ways, smart ways, to get everything in order and functional fashion.<br />
<br />
There are three issues with basing supplies:<br />
<br />
1- The amount of stuff you collect regarding basing, specially if you have some terrain and display board supplies with it ( as you should, what sort of peasant army do you have that's not on a display board ?!? )<br />
<br />
2- Limited use. If you're basing the smart way, which is all together for a whole project in a single large batch, you should not be using your basing kit on the regular.<br />
<br />
3- It's incredibly messy. Doing bases, just like terrain and display board is a messy task.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvMqrngPRcWcPaHEHIf7jd6K9aeTCW7MkDw_ziIbY5BHIKkneR9GIZm6bgLozcmuGRPBu6KNHRfXwhz7-V-DxbTJmJVhMfWQCn84PQYfL_EwqTOwrtb4JEXrcIoEAlkH3mcWEAlowyfqE/s1600/19398524_1192474167523214_1939417594_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvMqrngPRcWcPaHEHIf7jd6K9aeTCW7MkDw_ziIbY5BHIKkneR9GIZm6bgLozcmuGRPBu6KNHRfXwhz7-V-DxbTJmJVhMfWQCn84PQYfL_EwqTOwrtb4JEXrcIoEAlkH3mcWEAlowyfqE/s320/19398524_1192474167523214_1939417594_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And the best solution to this is dedicated Basing Box. I use a large cardboard box that is filled with everything or so that I use, thrown there in a chaotic mess. It includes everything:<br />
<br />
- 2-3 various kind of glue and a hot glue gun<br />
- a foam cutter<br />
- various plascticard rods, beams and sheets<br />
- cork sheets<br />
- sand, rocks and other basing materials<br />
- Static grass, herb tufts, and the likes.<br />
- Extra bases - All the extra bases that come with kits, or leftover from buying resing bases for some projects. It makes no sense not having them there, as you most likely won't need bases except when building bases.<br />
<br />
But this is me, and I thrive on chaos, I don't like tidying up stuff like this. If you do, bully! and instead of a cardboard chaotic nightmare, I highly suggest a toolbox. You can get some dirt cheap on amazon that you can compartmentalize. Here are my cheap and useful picks:<br />

Two this week in fact.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5EL8sreJEK9UwaBgAoU0ty8-aucc_YcrA9dhgMfk1fDaM_dael51prK6hB47CzDtK6Ou06VVdPnLISFQDjM4iHVDLdS1v5RlTrrbAC4QEqp6gjxbcB9D90f1uj3O9K3A4u8aaHbR9PY/s1600/19397793_1192566794180618_1145267112_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5EL8sreJEK9UwaBgAoU0ty8-aucc_YcrA9dhgMfk1fDaM_dael51prK6hB47CzDtK6Ou06VVdPnLISFQDjM4iHVDLdS1v5RlTrrbAC4QEqp6gjxbcB9D90f1uj3O9K3A4u8aaHbR9PY/s320/19397793_1192566794180618_1145267112_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These character were one of the remaining commish work I had laying around, and this week seemed like the perfect time to give them a taste of the ol'paintbrush.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<br />
This one is a RPG miniature, a half dragon character. The skin is a blend from human skin tones to a more draconic red look, and glowing yellow eyes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwY-D3Cst-WTxDJ8Y5gZ4HbMyqxfUQoQxQ4gpmifKhHGQOva36CWDT_KfFVQ-vpHr0prWEv-oJSERtpppD21wiroUmaxL_rxnKiazQ04aum_6COJfym6qEgqVy6fEHCEo1TXR23zV8Rxw/s1600/19389739_1192474160856548_225135848_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwY-D3Cst-WTxDJ8Y5gZ4HbMyqxfUQoQxQ4gpmifKhHGQOva36CWDT_KfFVQ-vpHr0prWEv-oJSERtpppD21wiroUmaxL_rxnKiazQ04aum_6COJfym6qEgqVy6fEHCEo1TXR23zV8Rxw/s320/19389739_1192474160856548_225135848_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The second one is another cool looking model. Because it came with the artistic liscence " just make it look cool " I painted it like Caitlyn from League of Legends. Boom! Headshot!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5EL8sreJEK9UwaBgAoU0ty8-aucc_YcrA9dhgMfk1fDaM_dael51prK6hB47CzDtK6Ou06VVdPnLISFQDjM4iHVDLdS1v5RlTrrbAC4QEqp6gjxbcB9D90f1uj3O9K3A4u8aaHbR9PY/s1600/19397793_1192566794180618_1145267112_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf5EL8sreJEK9UwaBgAoU0ty8-aucc_YcrA9dhgMfk1fDaM_dael51prK6hB47CzDtK6Ou06VVdPnLISFQDjM4iHVDLdS1v5RlTrrbAC4QEqp6gjxbcB9D90f1uj3O9K3A4u8aaHbR9PY/s320/19397793_1192566794180618_1145267112_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In fact, the instagram response to the gunner lady made me look into the real LoL miniatures. I'll definitely try my hand at those soon.<br />
<br />
Here's a little preview of things to come: <br />
<br />
Next week's Weekly Hobby will be somewhat lame, a couple of bases for Pox Walkers. <br />
<br />
After that, in no order, I have my ATC army, that will probably take only a weekend to paint.<br />
<br />
Then, some more chaos goodies because I made a super awesome fun 8th edition CSM list<br />
<br />
And finally a Forge World Primarch, namely a Magnus and the whole duel display base to go with the Leman Russ I painted earlier.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-801641217002106297.post-10902206589871931722017-06-20T06:53:00.003-04:002017-06-20T06:53:57.948-04:00Miniature Painting Basics Volume 2The second tome in the Miniature Painting Basics has just hit the shelves (virtual shelves...)<br />

<br />
Coming to you now<strike> live from the crime scene</strike> from Hellfire TV!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>A few weeks ago, <a href="http://hellfirepainting.blogspot.ca/2017/05/master-any-army-overnight.html" target="_blank">we published something about learning new rules with flashcards. </a> Well, there's a new edition; I have a new army; lo and behold I have some fancy new flashcards! Booyahchakka!<br />
<br />
Here are a couple of foot notes to step up your flashcard learning:<br />
<br />
<h3>
<b>1- Keep them in order at first. </b></h3>
<br />
The bigger the endeavor, more important does this become. Breaking down your study into specific sections to truly master them before trying to learn 100+ cards with no order of sequence is better. It makes things more manageable to lookup the cards you got wrong after if it's all from a specific section.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcKAzXQ8BDTpgzGuYybG9k0ku1tJYsTRmlsF24XG3NVzgFbz5bh6IqTDPCP-6ySZYgbOTtjdK8wI32Uj7VHF33qmo5As-Mri2Ph5eY-eW1PnjgWh9XDW2iYz28LVQ6zJQxBTkX33ko48U/s1600/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-06-12a%25CC%258019.00.41_135.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcKAzXQ8BDTpgzGuYybG9k0ku1tJYsTRmlsF24XG3NVzgFbz5bh6IqTDPCP-6ySZYgbOTtjdK8wI32Uj7VHF33qmo5As-Mri2Ph5eY-eW1PnjgWh9XDW2iYz28LVQ6zJQxBTkX33ko48U/s320/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-06-12a%25CC%258019.00.41_135.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I the corner of my cards, I note down a section or character where the card is from, this can be a specific unit (W for Weapons in this instance ) or a phase in the game.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<b>2- Highlight, Underline or Capitalise the important details.</b></h3>
<br />
Take this made up example card:<br />
<br />
Q: What is the Canhuck Wonderpunch special rule<br />
<br />
A: On a 6, damage is increased to D6<br />
<br />
Is it a 6 to hit or to wound ?<br />
<br />
Special rules are often intricate and have specific details. Make sure they are on the cards and that you do know them. Is it models or units within 8', is it army wide or a specific keyword.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_Dr7zKTqhmSt44zVcMMJM9QZoe2g_BGnLYxadst8fS3odjk1azsXdB4XicgYWbWKfmWYcBYGEzETaU2LRVkniFBly73P_5YxWDf1mO8N1CfGuAcwkJWvKItoN3rpwAPdGlewSDDz1xp4/s1600/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-06-12a%25CC%258019.00.58_29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1250" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_Dr7zKTqhmSt44zVcMMJM9QZoe2g_BGnLYxadst8fS3odjk1azsXdB4XicgYWbWKfmWYcBYGEzETaU2LRVkniFBly73P_5YxWDf1mO8N1CfGuAcwkJWvKItoN3rpwAPdGlewSDDz1xp4/s320/Captured%25E2%2580%2599e%25CC%2581cran2017-06-12a%25CC%258019.00.58_29.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<h3>
<b>3- Make too many cards and throw some out as you go.</b></h3>
<br />
After a couple of session, you might notice some cards are way too easy. Stuff like stats for a bolter, or things that remained pretty much unchanged since forever. Throw them out as you go.<br />
<br />
<br />
On the other hand, not making a card at first because it seems easy ( when you have the answer in front of you ) leads to gap in learning. <br />
<br />
<b>It does not work the other way around; you can't just add cards of things you don't know as you go, because, well, you won't know that you don't know,<i> you know</i>?</b><br />
<br />
And these card cost like half a penny each, so the saving money argument is kinda lame.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
